Our School
Situated in the beautiful coast of southern Norway, we have served the nearby international community since 2008. KIS currently offers an international education to approximately 200 students from more than 30 countries. Based within the
International Baccalaureate (IB) values, our school is dedicated to fostering a passion for learning, while developing the intercultural understanding that enables our students to become global citizens and embrace the opportunities in their futures.
Our Values
We aim to prepare our students for further international education around the world, preparing our students to meet international academic standards and demands. To achieve this, our students learn to be resourceful, independent learners with problem
solving skills as well as collaborative skills.
Our teachers are mentors, guides, and role models, dedicated to nurturing each student's potential. Within an inclusive school environment, small class sizes ensure personalized attention, fostering personal growth as well as a community values.
Beyond academics, we prioritize character development and leadership skills. Through community service projects, creative pursuits, and structured inquiry, students develop qualities that prepare them for success in an interconnected world. Our aim is to nurture well-rounded individuals who make a positive impact on society.
Our History
Founded in 2008 to serve the needs of the international business community in Kristiansand. The flourishing businesses in and around Kristiansand continue to attract professionals from around the world in sectors including the oil, chemical,
renewable energy and education industries. Kristiansand International School has provided a unique opportunity for international families for over 15 years. IB recognized in both the Middle Years Program and Primary Years Program since 2012, we have grown within the international and local arenas as a unique
educational community giving opportunities to our expatriate families.
Our Mission Statement
Kristiansand International School aims to provide an engaging learning environment for international students in Kristiansand and the surrounding region. A committed team of knowledgeable and dedicated practitioners work to provide a safe and
nurturing environment where student-centered education facilitates the development of international mindedness. We prepare our students for the challenges of an interconnected world by fostering a passion for learning now and into the future.
IB programmes
We offer a continuum of international education through high quality educational programmes to students aged 5 to 16.
Primary Years Programme
The PYP marks the start of a lifelong journey. It develops caring and culturally aware children aged 5 – 10 to become active participants in their own learning.
Middle Years Programme
Building a solid academic foundation, the MYP develops students’ confidence in managing their own learning and making connections between their learning in the classroom and the real world.
Norwegian IB Schools
NIBS is a group formed by schools who are authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate. NIBS provides a common voice with national bodies for recognition and alignment and the IB’s regional office.
